Great clip of John Coltrane and those other great jazz cats! Martin and I went to the Ravi Coltrane Quartet/Roy Haynes Quartet jazz concert at Ted Mann Concert Hall on March 6. Mr. Coltrane and Mr. Haynes’ jazz combos were delightful, but to be sure Ravi got upstaged by the master, Mr. Haynes, a bit. Roy Haynes at 80+ years old is such a graceful presence on the drums, – and since Roy’s wearing such hip clothes that would upstage even Mr. Purple-Velvet-Pants (Prince) himself-, I am sure that Ravi didn’t mind the upstaging. Seeing both of them perform is such a pleasure. I hope we can enjoy them again in Minneapolis soon.
